Added a Crosswalk!
We (myself and the road crew) went out and added a new crosswalk in the Devils Garden area. Grand aspirations of this crosswalk are to encourage campers to walk more frequently to the Devils Garden trailhead, thereby reducing slightly the demand for parking at the DG trailhead.
This is an optimistic viewpoint but at the very least this crosswalk will improve wayfinding and potentially safety because people will walk along the designated path rather than the road and motorists will exercise caution around this area.
At its worst, this crosswalk could reduce safety by making pedestrians not as cautious to oncoming vehicles, however I don’t think this scenario will happen because of low speeds (15mph) in the area.
I also kindly asked the road crew to add ladder striping at Courthouse Towers to improve visibility.
